First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Krusteaz Company.
Human Resources
Applied online to a company whose products I really like and have been a loyal consumer of. Got invited for a phone interview, but it never happened. The recruiter canceled it 15 minutes after it was supposed to start because of a meeting conflict. I get that these things happen, so it was no big deal. They asked me to reschedule and gave me some times, but I never heard back. I figured the position was either gone or filled, so I reached out as a professional courtesy to check the status. No reply. It was a bit of an unfortunate experience, but I hope it was just a one-off and that the company continues to do well.
- Was the interview canceled?
Digital Media Manager
I got an email from a temp to set up an interview with the HR Business Partner. Then, the temp emailed again saying they would be doing the interviews for the HR Business Partner. I talked to this woman for over an hour on the phone. She was nice, but clearly not a decision-maker. I answered all her questions perfectly. She mentioned having a list of 10 questions, but she spent a lot of time talking about herself and how happy she was at the company. It was strange. But I went along with it because the role was a perfect match for my skills and experience. Also, the company's digital presence was nonexistent, and I'd enjoy bringing them into the 21st century. A few days later, I got a form letter from the original HR Business Manager, who I never spoke with, saying they were moving on with other candidates. I spoke with the temp again. Apparently, she had 10 questions, took notes verbatim (which I doubt), and they made the decision without any input. It was the most ridiculous HR screen I've ever experienced.
- How do you think you would fit into a family-like work environment with many couples and family members already employed here, considering potential nepotism?
Customer Logistics Specialist
They'll give you a schedule of people to interview, and the whole thing can take 2-3 hours. They did order Panera, which was nice. The company isn't as diverse as they say; it's pretty white-dominated and seems to favor their own. If you're white, you'll probably fit in. They pick random people to interview you, and they don't even have interviewing skills. In the end, I got a voicemail saying they hired an internal candidate, which felt unfair from the start. If you want to try here, be prepared to waste your time and effort.
- Can you share a situation where you had to resolve an issue, including the outcome?
- Tell me about a time you had a disagreement with a co-worker, how you resolved it, and the results.
Associate Scientist
The interview process was informative and moved well. As a recent grad who was job searching for quite a while, the recruiter's transparency and accessible communication from the very beginning gave the best impression of Krusteaz.
- Tell me about yourself.
- Describe a situation you faced at work.
- Tell me about a time you demonstrated a specific behavior.
