First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Jewish Museum.
Intern
It took about a month to complete the two interviews, which felt more like conversations than formal interviews. The entire process was very professional. The first interview was general, aiming to understand my motivations. The final interview involved department staff and focused more on my past experiences.
- Can you explain your interest in this specific internship program?
Development Officer
The interviewer was friendly, encouraging and clear. They provided a wonderful overview of the organization as a whole. As an interview, this was definitely a good experience. After a phone interview, I was scheduled for an in-person interview. Unfortunately, during the time between interviews, another candidate accepted a previously made offer.
- What motivates you to want to work for the Jewish Museum?
Visual Assets Manager
It was a pretty fast process from submitting my resume to getting the interview call, only a few days. I only had one interview with one person. The vibe was pretty casual, and the person interviewing me seemed like a peer, not someone higher up. The interview itself was about 20 minutes long.
- Given your current job title, what makes you interested in this role that could be considered a lateral move?
Curatorial Intern
I had to submit an application first. It took some time to get a response, and I only heard back after I contacted the person reviewing the position. I think I sent my application materials directly to her as well as to HR. We had an interview about a month later, and it was a while before I was notified of the decision.
- Could you tell me about your interests in curating and your past experience in this area?
- What curatorial experience do you have?
