I'd been in contact with them for a few years. A top editor reached out, and we reconnected. It involved a single phone call, one Zoom meeting, and an in-person interview.

I had one interview with an editor. They seemed enthusiastic and friendly, but I was ghosted afterwards. Never heard anything else. Seems rude to not even let me know I wouldn't be moving forward.

My experience with this company's hiring process was mixed. The hiring team was great, really knew their stuff about the business and what the department does. But the recruitment team? Not so much. Polite, sure, but their emails and calls felt like they were coming from a robot. They asked about my salary expectations super early, before I even knew much about the job, which was a bummer. Trying to schedule the screening call was a pain too, they didn't seem to listen to when I was free. On the screening call, I barely got to ask about the company culture because it was so short. I felt rushed and couldn't tell if the role was right for me. The chat with the hiring team was good, though. I followed up later because I hadn't heard anything, and they said they went with someone else. Weirdly, the job got posted again the day before I heard this, which made me wonder how honest the process was. So yeah, the hiring team was enthusiastic, but the recruitment side could've been way better. They didn't pay much attention to details or make it feel personal, and I didn't learn enough about the culture on the screening call, so it wasn't the best experience.

The interview process had 5 rounds: HR, Hiring Manager, a Technical Screening with a Peer, Director, and CEO. I got to 4 out of 5 rounds, which took about 4 weeks. After that, I had to follow up with HR/recruitment twice for an update. They kept me waiting for 3 weeks before telling me they hired someone else. I didn't like the ethics of the technical screening because they asked us to solve a real problem the company is currently dealing with, which felt like asking for free consulting. Overall, there was a lack of transparency, communication, and feedback throughout the process. On the plus side, everyone I met was nice and considerate. Recruitment and HR need improvement.
