First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens.
Assistant
So I had 3 interviews for this Assistant role. The first was a quick 20-minute phone call with HR, then a 45-minute phone interview with the manager. Finally, there was an in-person interview that lasted an hour. The whole thing took about a month, which was pretty quick. Communication was smooth, and the interviewers were nice. I think 3 interviews is a bit much for an entry-level gig though, they could probably simplify it. I've applied to similar jobs at The Huntington before and didn't hear back, so I guess you gotta fit the requirements just right.
- What about The Huntington appeals to you?
- What's your motivation for wanting to join this company?
- Can you walk me through your background and experience?
Cashier
The screening interview was done over the phone and was pretty simple. It was just the first interview, and they asked me about my past jobs and any gaps in my resume. They also wanted to know when I can work.
- Can you share your past experience in retail?
- Could you describe your previous job history?
- What can you tell us about any gaps in your employment history?
Membership and Visitor Services Director
The interview process was really weird. I had a great initial call with HR, even though she was super late. It seemed promising, and they said the VP would follow up in a week. Three months went by with no word, and then I got a generic email saying they chose someone else. Kind of a ghosting situation after that promising start.
- Can you share your experience and background with me?
- What about this role specifically caught your attention?
Coordinator
It was a screening interview where I was asked a few questions. They also described some details about the job like the time and location. Lastly, they asked if I had any specific questions. After that, I was informed that I would move on to the next round.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What made you interested in this position?
- What are your salary expectations?
