Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Human Bean.
Barista
The interview was fast and easy. They asked some basic questions, nothing too hard. They seem pretty open to hiring and give most people a shot. Being available on weekends is a big deal for them.
- Do you like coffee and if so, what's your favorite coffee drink?
Barista
It was a nice interview with basic questions, I'd suggest this to anyone needing entry-level experience. The interviewer was from the continent and knew their stuff. They didn't mind that I didn't have prior barista experience, and they went over the schedule and pay.
- What makes you want to join this company?
Barista
The pay was less than other coffee chains, and the benefits and overall corporate experience were worse. It was much better to work at Dutch Bros or Starbucks. It was not a good job. The pay structure was also problematic, as a portion of our tips was taken to make up the difference to minimum wage. Minimum wage was $12/hr, but they only paid $9/hr, with the remaining $3/hr coming out of our tips. It was disgusting.
- Can you tell me about your experience with coffee?
