& Process

The interview was in person, on campus. It was with the campus directors and two clinicians who were reading questions from a script. I was interviewed with another candidate, so we both answered the questions they asked.

I applied through the website and heard back from the recruiting coordinator about 3 weeks later. They set up a time for me to chat with the Recruiter about my background. The call lasted about 45 minutes. He was super friendly and shared info about how the company started, what the job would be like, and talked more about my experience. Near the end, he mentioned I was the last candidate they were speaking with, so I was pretty late in the hiring process. A week after that, I got an email from the recruiter saying they were moving forward with a different application. I followed up and they let me know they decided to go with an internal candidate.

HR reached out to me about this job, which I was very excited about because I wanted to work with kids in schools. Scheduling the initial phone screen was surprisingly hard; it took about 4 weeks and multiple follow-ups because my emails were going to spam. The phone screen itself was straightforward, covering my background, experience, and what I'm seeking. About two weeks later, I went in for the main interview. This interview was unusual because it focused entirely on administrative tasks like organization, writing treatment plans, and billing, rather than my actual therapy experience with children or adults. It felt like they were more concerned about my ability to bill hours than my clinical skills. The pay structure also seemed questionable, with a low rate for seeing clients and an even lower rate for other tasks like paperwork and meetings. I was also informed that I wouldn't get paid for billable hours during the summer when school is out, meaning I'd likely need a second job. They mentioned high workload and potential lack of breaks.

I had an interview scheduled, but the staff completely forgot about it. I waited for about fifteen minutes and then had to call the company myself. They told me they would let the interviewing staff know and get back to me. I didn't hear anything back until over a month later when they said there was some confusion about our interview time, even though the email clearly stated when we were supposed to meet. It was really unprofessional.
