The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD interview process starts with a short initial phone screen to give you an idea about the job and what they expect. Then, there's a more involved first interview with a team lead. You have to write an answer to a prompt in 10 minutes. After that, it's about 30 minutes of quick questions. The team lead was kind of rude and dismissive during this part, asking questions in a way that felt more like an interrogation than a chat. They seemed to not know how to interview people well, focusing too much on small details instead of my whole background. The process was supposed to end with a final interview with the hiring manager, but I didn't move forward. Even though the process is detailed, the team lead's attitude made the experience less good than it could have been.

I was first contacted by a third-party recruiter. Then I spoke with the recruiter, and after that, I had a conversation with the medical director of the clinic where I was applying. It was a pretty straightforward process, no curveballs. I liked that they showed me all the available positions at different clinics, not just the one I was initially considered for.

It was pretty relaxed. I'm set to have a second interview, but since I'm still in college, they want to wait until after I graduate to schedule it. The interviewer mentioned that because the turnover is high, there are always openings. My first interview was with the supervisor for Rehab clinicians, and the second one will be with two people from HR.

First, there was a conference call to talk about the job. Then, a phone interview where they asked a bunch of behavioral questions and for a writing sample. The first question they asked was about why I'd want to be a helpline counselor. After that, there was an in-person interview that was similar to the phone interview, and I had to take notes while listening to a recorded call.
