First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Hackett Group.
Consultant
My interview process with Hackett was quite fast and involved. I had three one-on-one meetings with senior managers, one of whom was a practice director. Following that, I delivered a short business case presentation (which I received a couple of days prior) to the same group of managers. The interviewers asked very general questions, and they really wanted personal, detailed responses that were specific to my personality. Interestingly, in one of the interviews, no questions were asked; instead, I had a discussion with the interviewer about the challenges and opportunities within a particular industry.
- What are three words you'd use to describe me?
- What's an area where you could improve?
- What are some challenges and opportunities in this industry?
Consultant
This was set up by a recruiter who wasn't great, and some key info wasn't shared well. First, there was a 20-25 min phone call with typical questions like 'tell me about yourself in 30 seconds' or 'you're stuck in an elevator'. Then, a lunch with a colleague, which wasn't super helpful. After that, a quick call with a potential boss, also not useful. Finally, a case study. I got a PowerPoint with a lot of slides and had to prep a 15-min client presentation in 1 hour. The trick was picking out just a few relevant slides from the tons of them for the client presentation. Focus on the important stuff! Don't try to do too much!
- I was asked to answer some questions about shared service companies, which I had no prior experience with.
Consultant
I had a one-hour phone interview with HR, then a one-hour in-person meeting with a Sales Rep in Berlin (no expenses were reimbursed). Afterwards, I had an interview at the EMEA HQ in London (expenses were reimbursed). After what I thought was my last interview round, with the general account director, they scheduled a phone interview for me while I was in Moscow, and I had to pay 300 Euros for roaming costs!
