It was a 30 to 45 minute phone call for the initial interview. They asked me about my background in the field, where I have been at previously and my education. Basic questions.. qualifications, certifications, etc.

The initial phone screen with HR was pretty relaxed and I felt good about the in-person interview. Everyone seemed nice and easy to talk to. I got an offer and on the call, I asked if the pay was negotiable. She said yes, and we chatted for about 5 minutes. We agreed on a slightly higher hourly rate, and she said I'd hear back soon. Three business days later, she said upper management was still looking into it and I'd hear any day. The next day, I got a call saying my request was denied and the offer was off the table. It seems like there's a communication breakdown because if they'd told me upfront that pay wasn't negotiable, I would've taken the first offer. Instead, I was led to believe it was negotiable, tried to get my pay matched, and then was kept waiting for 4 business days while they probably finished the background check on someone else.

I had a first 30 min recruiter call about salary and start dates. Then I had a Zoom with the director, who seemed to want to hire me for a different role. There was a five week wait after that. I contacted the recruiter and found out the director was on vacation. Then I interviewed with my immediate supervisor. She said offers would go out the next Friday. After a week with no response, I followed up and was told to expect a decision by Friday, but never heard back. After 9 weeks and three interviews, I saw I wasn't selected. The recruiter never followed up or gave me any feedback on how to improve. I felt misled because the director indicated she wanted to hire me, but then nothing happened. The third interviewer said her team is 'flying the plane as they build it' when asked about SOPs and deviations.

Someone reached out to get more information about me. The first step was a questionnaire, which I completed and then sent back. They ghosted me after I returned the questionnaire. There wasn't so much as a 'thank you' for returning it and they didn't let me know that they weren't moving forward with me. I wouldn't have expected a follow-up if I had just applied but once they reached out to me, it was unprofessional of them to not properly close out the process.
