I was interested in this company's bonus potential of 25% and $75k base salary. But after multiple interviews, I realized they're looking for a "used car salesman" type. You're basically selling roofing repairs using Garland products, then a third party roofer does the repair. So you really have to push hard for the sale. The recruiter said you need to convince property owners to pay 25%-40% more than market price. The recruiter wasn't a salesperson and didn't know the sales process well; they just needed someone very aggressive, not necessarily a pro. I felt the whole process was a waste of time, unlike typical Fortune 500 interviews. I had doubts early on but was lured by the potential to make $200k+ in 3 years. No car, no mileage, and no cell phone provided with the job.

My experience interviewing with The Garland Company was great. They are really selective about who they hire, looking for top performers. Right from the first phone call to the last in-person meeting, I felt respected and was kept informed about what was happening next. Even though I didn't get the offer and they chose someone else, I felt like I had a real chance and it was a fair process. The overall experience was really good. Just be ready for some unusual interview questions and make sure you know why Garland is the right place for you, because they like candidates who've done their research.

It was quite long but, that was part of the whole thing. There were several phone interviews and a personality quiz before the in-person meeting. They got back to me quickly after the face-to-face to set up the final meeting with the Regional Manager. An offer was made after that meeting, but it took about 3 weeks to get started, which was fine since I was already working.
