The Delta Companies Interview Questions
& Process

The interview process was well-managed and lasted about an hour. After applying through a referral, I was contacted by a recruiter who set up an initial interview. This interview was with the team leader and the director of their department. Following this, the director thought I was a better fit for a different role at Delta, so the recruiter reached out again with details about a new team leader and position. The team leader called me the next day to discuss the role and gauge my interest. The recruiter then arranged the interview. This second interview also lasted about an hour and focused on my work history, experience, and future expectations. They also assessed if I seemed like a good cultural fit for the company. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful, and the recruiter stayed in touch to answer questions. I received a job offer by the end of the week.

I applied online and then had a face-to-face interview that went really well. They said I'd hear back in a day or two, and I thought I had the job. After two days with no contact, I got another offer but turned it down because I was sure about this one. On day three, they emailed, saying HR was on vacation and they'd be in touch by midweek. Midweek passed with no word. Then on Thursday, they emailed again, saying they only spoke to one reference and needed the other to answer. I contacted my reference to expect a call, but they never got one. Two days later, I emailed for an update, and they told me they hired someone internally. I was super disappointed with how unprofessional the process was. I ended up getting a better offer elsewhere a week later, so it's fine.

This interview process was really long. They asked a lot of personal questions and didn't discuss my job experience or what the daily tasks would be like. The interviewer was not communicative and it felt intimidating. I spent the whole time defending myself as a person, not showcasing my skills for the job. They never even talked about the job itself. I had no clue what the job was, but since it was my first job out of college, I took it.

So, I was actually going for an internal role, but the interview process felt pretty much like the one I went through when I first joined the company. They use this method called 'top-grading,' and it's way more about chatting about your personal background, your work experience, and what you're looking to do career-wise, instead of just firing off standard interview questions. These chats can go on for quite a while, like several hours.
