After an initial phone interview, I was offered an in-person interview. It was with three people and went well. However, for both interviews, they called me at the wrong times and on the wrong date for the in-person interview, despite me being very clear about my availability. Their communication skills are really poor, and they tend to ghost you. I'd expect an organization that emphasizes communication with clients and patients to do better during the interview process.
- Do you have knowledge of HIV preventative care?
- What are your strategies for dealing with an upset customer?
- Describe how you would approach a situation involving communication and problem-solving.
Barista
I met with the GM and HR, and we chatted about the job, what it entails, and the timeline for getting the new department going. The toughest part was getting all the references after I got the offer.
- How do you embody The Damien Center's values in your personal life?

So after applying, I had a phone interview. Then, I went in person to meet with two senior managers. A few hours after that, they told me I was moving on to the next step, but it could take a week or two. Then the director let me know I was moving forward and I had to give my info for a background check (no drug test though!). It took about 3 weeks to get a start date because they only do orientations at the start of the month, usually the second week, so around the 6th or 7th. After that, you go into training, meet everyone, then shadow for about 30 days. After that, you have to finish your training modules and start seeing clients by yourself.
- Can you discuss demographics within the HIV community?
- Share an instance where you faced a challenge and how you resolved it.
- What motivates you to work in HIV education and patient support?
Program Coordinator
The interview process was easy going, with great folks to interview and work with. The staff is absolutely wonderful in their interview processes, connecting the right folks for the position and asking the right questions while being open to questions being asked back.
