Behavioral Technical Case

I interviewed with the Accounting Director, SVP of Finance, and CFO. These interviews were conducted separately. The HR department was very thorough in their process. All three interviewers were engaged and asked relevant questions about my experience, and they were also open to my questions about the company and the position.

The interview experience was unprofessional and insulting. The interviewer seemed bitter and inconvenienced from the start. She didn't discuss pay, was crass, and her reactions to my answers were subpar. What disgusted me most was her statement that they do not and will not work with the schedules of active military members in the Reserves looking for extra work. She said this with conviction, as if proud of it. I was speechless. This feels like discrimination: you fight for the country, but can't get a job with them? I understand working around schedules, but calling out 'active members of military' specifically was unfair, disgusting, and completely altruistic. If this is the policy at the Cosmopolitan, I assume it applies to all MGM properties, which is a shame. Hearing how MGM treats the military, I wouldn't want to be affiliated with them. I highly recommend anyone considering working with Cosmo or any other MGM property to think about this before proceeding. It's an awful mentality and the most discriminating thing I've ever heard. It makes you wonder what other 'secret perceptions' they have about people from different backgrounds, races, religions, etc. It's truly a shame, and I feel like I just dodged a bullet.

I applied online on 6/12 and got a call on 6/14 for a group interview on 6/18. They picked me for a second interview with the department on 6/19. The manager said the Director really liked me from the group interview and that I'd get an email later that day about moving forward. A few hours after the interview, I got my offer letter with instructions for a background check and drug test. I sent in the documents and waited for the drug test appointment. I took the test on 6/22, and less than 2 hours later, I was told I passed and could start onboarding on 6/25, with info about training and uniforms. But the next day, 6/22, another manager said they had to pause everything until the background and drug test results cleared, blaming miscommunication. They said they'd keep me updated and it would take a week. On Monday, 6/25, I got a voicemail saying they couldn't move forward with my application and had no other info. I know my background and drug test were clean, so I'm confused why they changed their mind and didn't give me a reason, especially after telling me to start onboarding. I'm really disappointed with how this company and its management handled things.

after you apply, you will go in for a group audition. there were about 15 or so people there and the first thing we did was watch a video about cosmo. then we went around the room introducing ourselves, what we applied for, and something interesting or unique. we also had to give examples of the 4 C's; compassion, conscience, community and i forgot the last C. try to talk about all 4 even if you feel your examples arent that great...if you listen to others, you might be able to pick up on some ideas. after that, youll get instructions on the next step and ...that was about it for us. they looked pretty busy that day so they might have cut the audition a bit short.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Can you provide examples for the 4 C's?
