I was contacted by a recruiter from The Connor Group and quickly agreed to an interview. There was a bit of a delay in their response, which was understandable. When they got back to me to set up the first interview, we scheduled it for the very next day. This first chat with the recruiter was basically a screening call where they laid out the job details. They made it clear that the work schedule involves 6 days a week with only 1 day off, and just one guaranteed weekend off each month. What really caught me off guard was the salary information. Initially, the recruiter mentioned a range of $100,000-$160,000. But during the screening call, this changed multiple times. It went from $100,000 base salary plus bonus, to a potential of $100,000 salary with a bonus opportunity to reach $125,000 after a year. Then, it was revealed that the starting pay is actually $75,000 with a $25,000 bonus potential at the end of the first year. The $160,000 figure is only achievable after the second year. I felt this was misleading, like a bait-and-switch tactic, and it didn't sit right with me. If they're not upfront about the starting salary, it makes you wonder about other aspects of the company. However, I was willing to move forward considering the growth potential. The recruiter said everything looked good on my end and someone would reach out to schedule the next step, which would be a series of video interviews. I sent a thank you note after the screening, but didn't get a reply. Two days later, I received a generic rejection email. It felt like this company screens candidates to find those who won't question the role and will just agree to everything, potentially making them easier to exploit. The reviews I read beforehand about their interview process now seem to align with my experience. Not a single question was asked about my actual work experience or accomplishments.

Recruiter led me to believe I was a top candidate, which made me feel like I was going to get the job. I did everything they asked and went through three interviews. Then, there was silence. I had to contact the recruiter to learn they chose someone else. While I was a candidate, they were very attentive and treated me like a top priority. It's not worth your time. They feel like a cult.

The interview process is pretty quick even though it's intense. It's usually about four to five steps, and one part involves spending a whole day shadowing someone who's been here a while.
