The interview process for CUHK postdoctoral fellowships isn't super rigid or the same for everyone, it's more about the specific project, what the department is doing, and where the money is coming from (like university money, RGC grants, or other grants). It's usually not as structured as interviews for permanent academic jobs, and they care more about if your research matches than if you can teach. But here's generally how it goes, based on how CUHK recruits, what the RGC suggests, and what faculty members announce.

To get this role, you needed to have a good grade in the professor's course. Then, you interviewed with two senior research assistants and a researcher. After talking to the research team members, you met with the professor. You got an offer a few days later.

The interview for this Lecturer position started 15 minutes late, and the interviewers didn't apologize. Instead, they blamed me for connection issues due to my location in Japan. The panel had four members who didn't introduce themselves. The main interviewer repeatedly asked why I applied, despite my previous explanations. The other interviewers shuffled through my resume as I answered, seemingly questioning its validity. The questions felt aggressive, leading me to end the interview. I'm unsure about positive reviews, as this experience was quite off-putting.

The interview included a faculty discussion. However, one professor persistently asked very specific, theoretical questions and repeatedly interrupted my responses. The professor also inquired about topics unrelated to my research proposal, which seemed impolite given the distinct theoretical frameworks across social science disciplines. Two other professors were present and intended to ask more about my background, but this professor prevented them from doing so.
