Content Marketing Specialist
So, the hiring process is outlined on their website. It starts with a screening interview with an HR rep, then a practical exam to check your skills, and finishes with a group interview with HR and the hiring managers. The initial screening was about 30 mins, just chatting with the HR person. She was really nice and asked stuff about my background and abilities, plus some personal questions about my preferences. I found out the same day I was moving on to the skills part, which was a writing test. They suggested an hour for it, but writing a 1000-word blog post naturally took more time. I had four days to do it (though I could ask for more time) and submitted it early. Heard back the same day about moving to the group interview, set for the next week. That one was an hour with HR and the managers asking skill-based and personality questions, like what my core values are and who my favorite authors are. I don't have any complaints about this part; everyone was friendly and it was efficient. Just a heads-up, the writing test will likely take way longer than they say if you want to do a good job, but that's pretty standard for writing assignments. I'm writing this review mainly because of the negotiation part, which I'll cover below.
- Can you tell me about your core values?
- Which companies do you think are great at content marketing?
- What's the distinction between content and copy, in your opinion?
Sales Manager
I applied online and was sent an email asking for times to do an exploratory video interview and then complete a practicum assessment stating how I would tackle my first week on the job. I was asked to attend a second video interview with the person I would report to as well as the next manager up. The HR generalist was on the video as well. I was told I would be sent an assessment, which I was. It was a mixture of emotional intelligence and IQ. Unfortunately, I was not chosen, but they let me know within a few business days. Everything was very professional and the team members had a good rapport.
- What energizes you?
- Can you identify the key influencers in the region?
- Who do you see as our main competitors?
Graphic Designer
The interview process at The CE Shop was straightforward. It began with an initial application, followed by a Google Hangout interview, a practical project, and an in-person panel review, concluding with an offer. The initial phone interview involved HR asking basic screening questions about my experience, skills, and personality to assess my fit. That same evening, I was given a practical project involving a flyer and web ad, with a deadline of the weekend and an estimated hour of work. Two days later, I attended an in-person panel interview with the director, HR manager, and hiring manager, where they delved deeper into my past experience and skills. I also had the opportunity to ask questions about the team and the role. After receiving the offer, they provided ample time for review and responded quickly, usually within 2-3 hours. During negotiations, they matched my counter-offer, explained their review and compensation process, and even offered paid time off for a pre-planned vacation.
- What are your core values?
- Can you tell us more about your experience and personality?
Compliance Administrator
It was a three part interview process. First up was a phone call to see if I was a good fit. Then, I had to do a practical assignment that felt like actual compliance administrator work. The last part was a panel interview, done via video chat because I was out of state. They let me know about the decision pretty quickly, within two weeks after the final interview.
- Can you provide a brief overview of your background and experience?
- What motivated you to apply for this compliance administrator position?
- What do you consider to be your key strengths and areas for development?
