QA Automation Engineer
I got a phone interview first, and then they set up an interview with the hiring manager and an executive. A friend referred me, so I thought I had a good shot. The manager was okay, but the executive was a jerk and seemed bored. He kept making rude comments and microaggressions the whole time, like he already knew he wasn't going to hire me. My friend, who also quit, told me horror stories about this place. So, I guess the executive's attitude saved me from a bad experience.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What are some of your strong and weak points?
- Can you describe a difficult project and how you handled it?
Marketing Content Manager
It was a pretty thorough interview process. I started with a recruiter call, then I had to send in writing samples and a video where I answered some basic questions. I also completed a short assessment. After that, I had a video interview with the marketing manager and the VP. It was a bit weird doing a video call with a few people I hadn't met before, but they made it comfortable. We had a good back-and-forth discussion about the job, the company, my experience, and how I work. I felt it went really well and we connected; they mentioned HR would be in touch within the week about the next steps. HR did reach out, but unfortunately, it was to let me know they'd chosen another candidate.
- Describe how you organize and manage your daily and weekly tasks, including meetings, projects, and other responsibilities.
- Can you explain your method for keeping website content and marketing materials current and up-to-date for customers?
- Rate your level of interest in this role on a scale from 1 to 10.
Software Engineer
The interview started with a standard HR screening where I had to repeat my resume info and confirm I could do the job duties. If you're prepared, the main interview is straightforward. The 1:1 and group interviews weren't too tough. I noticed the team seemed to have long tenure, and while they talked up advancement, one peer interviewer mentioned real promotions are uncommon. Being a subsidiary with no business ties to the parent company felt like a small pond. The process was a bit drawn out, taking over a month from start to offer, by which time I had other options. Ithaca seemed nice, but it wasn't the right fit.
- Tell me about a time you didn't meet expectations and how you handled it.
Marketing Intern
It was a three part interview. First, a 15-20 minute phone call with an HR rep. Then, a 30-45 minute video interview with my direct supervisors. Lastly, a 15-20 minute video interview with the VP. This intern program is for students with not much experience; they really want to see your motivation and how you manage your time. Everyone was super nice!
