First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Bowery Mission.
Executive Assistant
I got contacted for an interview pretty quickly after applying, like within 24 hours for the following week. The first interview was online. Then the second and final interview was way later, like almost a month, and it was in person.
- In what way do you perceive divine influence or presence in your professional journey?
Community Life Associate
I sent in an application with my resume and cover letter. Then I got an email saying they wanted to get to know me better, so I had a phone interview with a woman in the HR dept. This was the most in-depth part of the interview, as she asked a lot of questions about the experiences on my resume. She then recommended me for an in-person interview.
- Can you share an instance where you had to resolve a conflict between people? What was your approach, and what was the outcome?
Coordinator, Campaign and Major Gifts
The interview process was incredibly unorganized. The most frustrating part was a technical test that had formatting issues in Excel, making it impossible to complete. Despite these challenges, I remained professional as I truly believe in the organization's mission and was willing to accept a lower salary. After four months, I was informed I didn't get the position. By then, I had already accepted another job and had almost forgotten about this application.

Front Desk Receptionist
The interview process was brief but tough. They reviewed my resume and asked typical interview questions along with some about my personality. I had a one-on-one meeting with the Executive Assistant. They were really focused on professionalism.
- Can you introduce yourself?
