First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Austin Company.
Intern
First round was with HR, not aware of the specific duties of my position or field. They were nice and asked easy questions but didn't know how to answer questions specific to the position.
- What makes you want to work at this company
Civil Intern
I talked to The Austin Company at a career fair at school and they reached out asking if I would like to be interviewed for an internship position. Was really on top of everything and I liked how professional they were.
- What motivated your interest in Structural engineering?
Mechanical Engineer
I applied online and then a recruiter from the company reached out. In total, there were three interviews. The process included a recruiter call and then two onsite interviews with the chief engineers. The interviewers were all very friendly and made me feel welcome; I had a great time interviewing with them.
- Could you discuss general design principles related to MEP systems?
MEP Superintendent
Had multiple calls before two interviews, one at the office in Irvine, and another on site in Redondo Beach to make things work with schedules and get this great company opportunity moving faster. Working with The Austin Company, who have a 100-year history in Aviation, Industrial, and Design Build projects for repeat clients, would be a huge motivator. For a company that's 140 years old to have survived and adapted through major world events like wars and depressions, you'd definitely want to retire there!
- What are your five-year career aspirations?
- It's not possible to know everything, nobody does unless you're deceitful; be direct, factual, and responsible.
- Can you describe how you would prepare for an opportunity by understanding the role you're applying for?
