Product Marketing Manager
I got through 3 out of 5 steps in this hiring process after applying through a reference: internal recruiter > hiring manager > assignment. The process took roughly 3 weeks. After passing through the hiring manager, I got invited to complete a take home assignment, where I was asked to outline a marketing plan for one of their existing products. Shortly after I submitted it to the recruiter per email, I was notified that they would no longer continue with my application. There was no feedback, context or verbal discussion about my work that I spent a few hours on, to which I requested and was later denied.
- Tell me about a product launch or campaign you were involved in that was successful.
Senior Product Marketing Manager
First, I had a call with a recruiter. Then, I had a one-hour interview with the hiring manager. The next day, I found out I didn't get the job because they had already hired someone else. They told me the reason was that the other candidate had more relevant experience, but it wasn't very helpful feedback.
- Can you discuss your background in TAM and customer analysis?
- What's your experience with launching products?
- What experience do you have performing whitespace analysis?
Product Marketing Manager
Had a total of 6 interviews plus a take-home task. It started with an HR phone interview, then I spoke with the hiring manager. After that, I was given a take-home assignment. Then, there were 3 back-to-back in-person interviews. It was generally a good experience, but the same question, "Why do you want to work here?", kept coming up, and I felt like they were testing me. After the 5th interview, I was told I wasn't a fit for the role, which felt a bit late. Then, I was offered a 6th interview with a different marketing team. During this 40-minute call, I had to answer "Why do you want to work here?" again, even though it had been answered by others. They still had reservations based on my previous experience, which I addressed twice in that 40-minute call. After a wait, I was emailed that they might consider me for future roles in about two months. It's a bit frustrating to go through all that and not be hired, with only a vague possibility of something later. I'd probably turn down any future offer anyway.
- Could you tell me why you're interested in this particular company?
- What makes you want to join our team?
- Why are you applying for this role at our organization?
