Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Access Group (UK).
Senior Manager
Had an initial call with the recruiter, then the hiring manager, then heard nothing for 2 months. Chased them a few times as was told they had a huge amount on interest so were still creating a short list, which added another month, then sent both the recruitment team and hiring manager another email and got no response. Not a great way to treat a potential employee coming into a Senior Manager Role.
- Can you review your history and CV?
Manager
I went through 2 rounds of interviews for this Manager position. The company staff were professional and presented themselves well. Standard questions about my background, skills, and motivations were asked during the interviews. However, the communication from the company was a significant issue, feeling sporadic with long gaps between stages. Even after chasing them via email for status updates, I haven't been informed of the outcome. While the interviews themselves were good, it's disappointing that a company can't easily inform a candidate of a rejection or if the job is no longer proceeding. Overall, my impression was a great company with great staff, but the poor communication left a negative final impression.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What prompted your departure from your previous employer?
Service Manager
It was an online competency interview via Teams, and it had 2 stages. The first interview was a casual chat with the line manager, who explained the company's business and the role's responsibilities.
- Can you tell me about your experience?
- Can you describe your work history?
