First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Academy Schools.
Counselor
The interview wasn't what I expected, and the job wasn't what they advertised online. I ended up declining the offer because it wasn't the right fit. It felt like they were looking for someone to act as a babysitter and handle a lot of paperwork.
- What is your salary expectation?
Drug and Alcohol Counselor
I emailed with a recruiter on Indeed and we clicked, so they invited me to interview in person. The job was listed as a daylight position, but when I got there, I was told it was actually 3 PM to 11 PM. As soon as I said I wasn't interested in that shift, the interview ended. I drove 60 miles for the shift info to be wrong. Mistakes happen, but this was a big waste of my time that I could have spent on other job searches.
- Are you amenable to working the evening shift?
Human Resources Assistant
The interview process took place over two days. On each day, I met with three supervisors. Most of the people I met felt like I was talking to a friend, not being interviewed. The questions were meaningful but not difficult; they seemed more focused on getting to know me and assessing if I'd be a good fit for the team.
- What gets you angry?
Drug and Alcohol Counselor
The interview process was really relaxed and casual. I had separate hour-long conversations with two staff members. They talked about the organization with me. They asked me typical questions about my aspirations and my personality. The whole thing took about 2.5 hours, and then I wrapped up with HR.
- What are your thoughts on situations requiring physical restraint?
