HR Generalist
I applied on Thursday and got an email the same day to set up a phone interview for Friday. I sent my availability immediately and confirmed with the recruiter. Friday came, and I waited by the phone, but no call came. After 30 minutes, I emailed the recruiter, who replied about a week later claiming she did call and offered to reschedule. I accepted, and she called the next day. During this call, she didn't ask any specific questions, so I ended up just talking about my resume and experience. She said I'd hear back in a week, but I never did. The call, which she initiated, lasted only 6 minutes and included just one question. It was unprofessional, and I still haven't gotten an update.
- Can you walk me through your previous work experiences?
Teller
the whole thing took about 2 weeks. i applied online, through their site. the next day, i got an email asking for a digital interview (i really hate those. i tend to get too comfortable and ramble, because i'm interviewing in the comfort of my home, but i guess that's the point). after the standard three business days, i decided to just call and check where i was in the process. the recruiter said she hadn't gotten to it yet, but by the end of the week she invited me in for an in-person interview. most of the interview had already been conducted digitally, so i guess the in-person questions were more personal get-to-know-you questions (still professionally relevant, of course). she was very likable, and i found the questions challenging but very interesting. i also presented my questions (vertical job growth, expectations, challenges, goals to set, etc.). i honestly thought i was in, but a couple of days letter, i got an email saying otherwise. overall, i thought recruiting process was challenging, but very simple.
- Can you tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult or angry customer?
Teller
I put in an application online back in February. Then, in April, I got an invitation for an online math test. About a week after finishing that, they called me in for an interview. It was with the assistant manager and the lead teller. The manager asked the questions while the lead teller took notes. They asked me typical customer service questions and some about school. I think it might have gone wrong because they seemed really worried about me still being in school, even though my classes are only Tue/Thur mornings and the job shifts are Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat. Anyway, the interview itself felt really good, and I was pretty sure I'd get one of the three open positions since it went so well. But, I never heard back from them, not even a rejection. Besides them being weird about my school schedule, I honestly have no clue what could have messed it up.
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
- What are your professional objectives?
- Are you interested in career advancement within the organization?
Branch Manager
I applied online and heard back within a few days to do an online assessment. After that, the recruiter confirmed they got my resume, application, and assessment. A few days later, the hiring manager called to schedule a phone interview. However, the interview time passed, and the credit union never contacted me, even after I tried reaching out.
- The online assessment includes questions similar to those found on community college placement exams.
- This is not the type of assessment one would expect for a role requiring over 10 years of experience.
