Admissions Advisor
Had a 30-minute phone screen first. Then got an invite for a virtual interview, which was about 45 minutes long and with managers. The last interview was in person with another manager and some peers.
- How would you deal with someone who disagrees with everything you propose?
Visual Media Specialist
I had an online video chat interview with 3 folks from the department. They asked standard questions for about an hour. Then, 5 weeks later, I had a second interview with just the department head. After that, I didn't hear back for 2 months. I noticed the job was reposted, so I emailed HR for an update, but eventually got a rejection email. A year later, I saw the same job for a different campus and applied again. The same HR person called me right away and set up another interview with mostly the same people. This video chat interview concluded with the department head asking if I was ready to move to Houston, to which I responded positively. However, I never heard from them again. Strangely, I recently saw the original position reposted.
- Can you walk me through your production process?
Human Resources Business Partner
I had a few calls with a recruiter, then a phone screen, and then a call to set up a Google Meet video call with the hiring manager (HR Manager) and another HRBP. The interviewers seemed really passionate and intense about their jobs, but what they were looking for in the interview didn't match what the recruiter initially told me. The recruiter said they needed someone with a lot of Excel and reporting experience, but the interview team was confused when I brought that up and seemed to want someone with extensive coaching experience. Overall, it felt like a confusing waste of my time.
- What's your experience with coaching employees?
- Describe a situation where you and your supervisor disagreed on how to manage an employee's performance.
- Have you been involved in writing performance reviews or employee warnings?
Visual Media Specialist
The organization has a tendency to ghost applicants without explanation. I applied for this role and had an interview with a panel. After that, I was tasked with creating a 60-second video on a topic of my choosing. I completed the video, but only heard back from the organization once more. Despite sending several emails asking for an update, I received a response a month later from a hiring manager stating that the process was long and HR would provide an update. I never heard from them again, even after sending more emails seeking an update on the position. This behavior is highly unprofessional and reflects the company culture, especially given the significant effort required for the interview process.
