& Process

The interview process had mainly personality questions and technical questions regarding algebra 1. They were pretty okay if you did not get it 100% correct if you had the right method and should a good attitude it was a vibe check. Teaching style questions and how you would handle x,y,z situation.

I had a panel interview with 5 individuals from the university who rotated asking questions. The process was really professional and to the point, sticking to the schedule. They talked about the job in detail and I got to ask my questions too. It was a typical panel interview, as you'd expect from a university.

Got contacted about two months after applying. The interview was in person on campus with two department leaders. A few weeks later, they asked me to interview for a second position I hadn't applied for. It was basically the same as the first. They said they'd let me know about next steps in a week to 10 days, but it actually took about three weeks later to get an offer for the original position. A couple red flags: they didn't get back to me when they said they would, and the salary was shady. They told me one starting salary when they first contacted me, but the offer was almost $10K less. When I brought it up, they said I must have misheard, that the low salary was firm, but we could renegotiate after 3-6 months (which didn't happen). I took the offer because I really needed a job.

Initially it was a productive and thought through interview process and I was pretty sure I would get the job. But then I got the call that I not only didn't get the position but they were going to repost the job after they had only interviewed one person (me). It was an insulting and disrespectful slap in the face. Buyer beware.
