First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Texas A&M International University.
Student Worker
The interview process is pretty easy and they help you out, you'll usually have a phone screen first and then one or two interviews in person or online. They check your communication skills, if you have a good customer service attitude, and if you can be flexible with your schedule. It's a good place to grow and get better professionally while having a flexible work schedule.
- What skills do you have that would make you a good fit for this job?
Communication Specialist
The interview for the Communication Specialist role felt really professional and put-together. The questions they asked were good and made sense for the job, and I felt like I could really show off what I can do and also get a good sense of the job and how the company works. I liked how they kept me updated and that the interviewers were nice and made me feel welcome. It was a good and interesting experience overall.
- Can you tell me three words that describe you?
Research Assistant
Got an email to set up a virtual interview. It was a Zoom meeting with five interviewers. They asked about my research background and areas I'm comfortable working in. The questions were technical and didn't really match the job description. It felt like they were looking for something specific that wasn't advertised. I didn't get a response, and apparently, others had the same issue.
- Can you detail your research experience?
- What kind of research are you comfortable undertaking?
Counselor
The interview committee was nice. Once HR offers the job, you have to say yes or no immediately. You can't ask for a second interview to get more information on the university, or call them back with an answer. I should have turned down the job offer. It was a lesson learned. When HR doesn't give you the courtesy to think on it for a few hours and call them back, that shows what kind of place it is to work for, and it turned out to be that kind of nightmarish place.
- Were all the questions very standard?
