First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Texana Center.
QMHP-CS
I talked to the Youth program manager first, then I went back for a second interview with the clinical manager. Both interviewers seemed really negative about the job, especially the second one. Before asking me anything, she told me "this job is really stressful and we have a high turnover rate." She asked me some questions about my previous jobs and some general interview questions. She told me about all the challenges of the job and asked me how far away I lived and if I'd be willing to make a long drive to the clinic daily. I think she was trying to see if I would stick around, but it felt more like she was trying to talk me out of the job. Near the end, she mentioned she'd need to check with HR about my college major since it wasn't a social science degree they usually see. In the end, HR emailed saying my major didn't qualify.
- What's your preferred management style?
- What are your goals for your next role?
- Describe your ideal work setting.
Service Coordinator
The interview process really depends on the manager and department. GR is pretty easy because the Team Leader does most of the talking. TxHmL, the manager is very by the book and asks questions straight from the HR sample question booklet. HCS, Enrollment, and PASR usually have a panel interview. FYI, if you get an offer with Enrollment or PASR, the manager is very nice and the workload isn't as much as other departments. Overall, expect questions about your work experience, interaction with disabled people, and a writing sample.
- How would you describe people with disabilities to someone else?
Behavior Technician
The interview involved some questions and scenarios about handling difficult situations. It seemed to go well and the manager was nice. I received an offer, but then HR got weird about my diploma, acting like they couldn't verify it even with my transcripts, diplomas, and work history. It felt like the HR person just didn't like my appearance and was trying to find a reason not to hire me. Ultimately, I didn't get the job. I wouldn't suggest applying here.
- What made you choose this particular role?
- Can you describe how you'd handle challenging situations?
Registered Behavior Technician
You get to tour around and get a hands on experience before accepting the position which helps alot. You will be given the pen position for a while so that you can leave at any time and it wont effect you just in case you are not sure about the job. The turnover rate is very high so the job is not for everyone.
- Could you describe a challenging situation you encountered and how you demonstrated leadership to resolve it?
