Applied and got a call from a recruiter for a screening. They asked about my salary expectations and I told them my number, and they didn't indicate it would be an issue. Then I had to do a long assessment (over an hour) that wasn't specific to the job, with about a third being basic math, another third HR/sales behavioral questions, and the last part was a self-description/workplace preference word selection. After that, the recruiter called again to discuss my test results, and even they couldn't explain how it helps select good testers. Next, I had an hour-long meeting with the hiring manager. I was then asked for references, which seemed early since I was only halfway through. Then I had to create and deliver a presentation (took almost 3 hours of my time) during an hour-long panel call. After that, I met with another manager for an hour. I suspect there were more rounds, but the client was getting impatient. There were very few questions about my testing skills or leadership experience. When the offer came, it was about 15% less than we discussed in the screening, with no clear reason why. Benefits were mediocre except PTO, and new hires pay 20% for the work laptop, with the idea that you can keep it if you stay long enough. Some questions I asked earlier were still unanswered at the offer stage, despite promises to follow up. I declined the job.

So, my interview experience was really frustrating. When I first talked to the recruiter, I mentioned my salary expectations, and they assured me the budget was fine. Then I had to do this 2-hour TestGorilla assessment, which was tough but I got an 80%. After that, there was a 2-hour technical interview with coding challenges, which I nailed. Then came a 1.5-hour interview for cultural fit and leadership stuff. They gave me great feedback the next day, but then the recruiter wanted another call. It took a week to schedule, and then they told me they would only offer half of what I originally asked for. Honestly, I'd avoid this company.

So, for a QA Analyst role, it usually starts with a quick chat with a recruiter or the hiring manager to see if your background fits. Then, they might give you a test to check your skills with testing stuff and quality control. If you do well on that, you'll probably have a more in-depth interview, either online or in person, with the QA team or the manager. They'll ask about your past work, how you solve problems, and how much you pay attention to details. You might have to talk about times you found and fixed bugs or problems, and how you teamed up with others like developers and product folks. They might also want to see if you get different testing methods, like black box, regression, or performance testing. Basically, they're looking at your tech skills, how you think, and how you communicate, plus if you're a good team player.
