Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Terumo.
Senior Quality Engineer
I found the job on the company website, and a recruiter contacted me within a week. After that, they set up an interview call with the hiring manager. The hiring manager seemed uninterested in my answers and gave me the impression they weren't looking to hire someone with experience in a different industry. I lost interest then and didn't follow up on the status.
- What makes you look for a new position?
- Why did you apply if you lack medical industry experience?
- What are your strengths and biggest accomplishments?
Quality Engineer
I started with a phone call, then a zoom interview with my potential manager where we discussed my background and knowledge. After that, I had a panel interview with three 30-minute sessions with people from different departments. Everyone seemed impressed, but after two weeks of silence, they told me they went with someone else. I had to reach out to even get that update.
- What statistical tools are you proficient with?
- Can you collaborate with different departments on a single project?
- Describe your approach to resolving disagreements with a colleague.
Quality Engineer
I applied on Terumo's career website and after a couple of months, HR contacted me. We had a chat about my career. The next day, the hiring manager called for a technical discussion. Then, I was invited for an in-person interview in Elkton, Maryland. Before the interview, I was given a dataset to analyze and present my findings. The onsite interview involved separate meetings with the Quality Director, Product Life Cycle Manager, HR (both the initial rep and HR Director), the Hiring Manager (Quality Manager), and the Product Development Manager, all scheduled throughout the morning.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What are your career aspirations for the next 3-5 years?
- What makes you a suitable candidate for this role?
