Made it to the third and final interview for a director position, and was asked to make an annual plan for the department. Given 3 weeks to complete the project, but a couple of days into it, decided that asking for an annual plan was way too much of a request for someone in the interview process, even though I really wanted the job. Successful plans take weeks, if not months, and open lines of communication on a regular basis from all departments - and companies should know that. At this point in the process, the only person I had communicated with was HR - not anyone in the actual department I was applying to. Would have been happy to show them previous plans I had created in my other roles, or set up a comprehensive campaign with my recommendations. Politely declined to move forward in the process, addressing my concerns in the email. They wished me the best. From start to finish, the entire interview process would have been just under 8 weeks long.

So I had this initial phone call that was super quick. Then they scheduled a more formal phone interview with like 3 people on the team. They said it would be like an interrogation and honestly, they weren't wrong. It felt really impersonal and they asked corporate-y questions that didn't really relate to my skills or the actual job. It was just question after question with no real feedback. It was a bad look for a company that claims to have a fun work culture. I was surprised when they asked for an in-person interview where I had to do two big design projects, including their branding. They gave me less than a week for both, which is way too short for doing them right. It felt like they were just trying to get free work. The whole thing felt uptight and impersonal and gave me a bad vibe about working there.

Behavioral Presentation

Started with a phone interview, then moved to an in-person interview where I had to give a 10-minute presentation about something I was passionate about. It was pretty casual but they got straight to the point. They're serious about who they bring onto the team, which is a good sign.

The interview was pretty relaxed. They really focused on warehouse safety, and I got a tour of the packaging floor and a basic rundown of the tasks involved. Having the right availability was a big concern, but while previous experience was a plus, it wasn't a dealbreaker.
