The first round was about motivation and CV, where you had to answer specific questions. The second round involved answering some questions on video. You had 1 minute per question and couldn't prepare them beforehand. The third and final round was a full assessment day, including a pitch about yourself, an interview, and a group case.

I applied through their online portal, and then an HR representative called me to discuss interview timings and schedule the interview. The interview itself was quite friendly, and the interviewer was engaging. Unfortunately, I was rejected because my German language skills were not sufficient.

My interview at TenneT was unfortunately not a positive one. During the conversation, the interviewer asked me a question about my gender, which I found inappropriate. I was stunned by this question, and all the confidence I had built up was completely undermined. The interviewer then made a comment about them "scaling back" their efforts to hire diverse candidates. These kinds of questions and comments are not only inappropriate but also contrary to the values of inclusivity and diversity that many companies claim to support these days. It was disappointing to see that TenneT does not adhere to the same standards. Perhaps it's for the best that this happened during the first interview and not later during a contract. I will never apply to this company again or want to work there, but that's probably the result they were hoping for. I hope the company pays more attention to training their interviewers in the future to ensure a respectful and inclusive experience for all candidates.

The whole process up to the job interview went smoothly. The email communication was particularly helpful because I could always re-read at my own pace what the next steps were. I also found the job interview itself very positive despite my initial nervousness. I got the impression that my interviewer had thoroughly reviewed my CV and cover letter. This made me feel not like one of many applicants, but truly seen. What also totally convinced me was that I received an application guide by email beforehand. It listed helpful tips for the job interview, which gave me extra confidence and made the whole process seem very professional. No suggestions for improvement, actually. I particularly want to highlight positively that besides the first online meeting, there was a second in-person meeting before a decision was made. In this second conversation, the future position was explained in more detail, and all open questions from both sides could be clarified. Through the discussion, I could better reflect on my ideas and expectations for the future role.
