Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tennessee State Government.
Administrative Assistant
I applied online through a staffing agency and got invited to a Zoom interview about a week later. The interview was with some team members, and I answered behavioral questions from each of them. They said they'd let me know the results in a few days, but I never heard back.
- Could you describe your strengths and weaknesses?
- Can you tell me about your experience using Microsoft products?
- What makes you want to work for the State of TN?
Administrative Assistant
The interview was pretty chill, laid back. They asked some general questions about my schooling and past jobs. The interviewer seemed really interested in what I had to say. I got an update on the job within a couple days. Everyone I met was really nice and friendly. It was a good experience overall and nothing to stress about.
- Tell me about a time you faced a challenge.
Administration Assistant
First, I took a qualification exam, then I submitted my application and resume. After that, I completed the full application and returned emails. Next, I went through multi-level interviews and followed up with both the direct manager and HR. Finally, I got a confirmation email or mail saying I was approved for follow-up.
- Tell me about a time you handled problems in the past.
