I had a screening call and then my first interview with the team lead. After a few days, they scheduled a second round which was a panel interview. The first interview was mostly in Chinese, like 90%, because the team works a lot with people in China, so you gotta be super fluent to fit in.

Did a remote interview on VooV. First, they gave a quick overview of the company and the position I was interested in. Then, they asked some typical interview questions. Most of the chat was in Mandarin, but there was a short part in English to check my language skills.

So, the interview was like this: first, they asked me to talk about one of my research projects and go into the details. Then, I had to answer some programming questions on their online platform. Lastly, they threw in a system design question, specifically about storing large amounts of data.

So the interview process had four interviews in total. Two were technical interviews, one was with upper management and the last was with HR. It was pretty much a standard process. Since I was considered a subject matter expert in the specific technologies they needed, the questions weren't too hard. They offer a full cloud suite so there were technologies I didn't know everything about, but I was upfront about it and it didn't seem to hurt my chances.
