TEN : the Enthusiast Network Interview Questions
& Process

I had a quick call with the recruiter first, then a longer, 1-hour call with the hiring manager. This call was rough. She asked me to walk through my background, and when I mentioned OTT companies I've worked with, she pressed for specifics like names of contacts, departments, and locations. This felt really awkward because those companies have strict NDAs, and it seemed like the hiring director didn't grasp that or best practices in OTT.

Applied online after a friend recommended it, but the company took 5-6 months to respond, which made it seem like they were in a rush to hire. There were 5 interviews in total. One interview was with a manager who hadn't even read my resume. Even more surprisingly, after many months, I still haven't heard back about whether I got the job, despite contacting HR multiple times. My friend also told me that this is the same company that outsourced a position to India, and the employee had to train their replacement. It's a company that doesn't seem to value its employees or their talent.

So I had this interview, it was a few rounds. First, I talked to HR. Then I met one of the head engineers, followed by the streaming engineers, and then the Wordpress engineers, which is the team I'm applying for. I also spoke with the marketing team. The head engineer reviewed my coding exercise and gave feedback, which was cool. The 3 streaming engineers were super chill and made their part productive and fun, I liked that. But then, the 3 Wordpress engineers started firing coding questions at me, like 15-20 of them, all about PHP, Javascript, HTML, and CSS. They even made me do some whiteboarding. I didn't nail all of them, and they didn't seem too impressed, which I got. But then, one of them joked that the rest of the interview would be easy, and I was looking forward to the group panels. After the Wordpress team, I had a good chat with marketing. But then, the HR lady came in and said they were cutting my interview short. It made me think back to that joke about the rest being easy. I talked to some people about it, and they agreed it was pretty unprofessional. If the developers weren't feeling me, they should've just said so then instead of leading me on. I waited a while to write this, but it was a really bad experience. Some people were respectful, but that Wordpress team needs to step up their game.

I got connected with the company through recruiters. The interview lasted about 40 minutes and wasn't too difficult. The people were nice. Since I applied for this role, I met with a couple of my potential sales managers. They each asked me a few questions.
