Support Technician
It was pretty straightforward! If you can hold a conversation and seem interested in a software career, they'll hire you. They're mostly just looking for people to fill the roles right now.
- Imagine a scenario where someone needs something from you urgently, and you have to explain that you can't fulfill their request for a few days. How would you handle that situation?
Support Analyst
The first step was a phone call with Lucas James, who are basically part of the team. They asked me to talk about myself and my resume projects. We also went over salary, benefits, and they answered my questions. Then, I had a 1-hour Zoom with the Support Manager. It started with introductions and then she explained the office setup and what the job entails. She also wanted to hear about my past work and school projects. It was a chat, then it moved to behavioral questions. She asked about my most challenging project, and I told her all about my recent analytical capstone project from college. She had more questions ready but decided to pass me to the next round without asking them. We finished in about 45 minutes. After that, there was a take-home SQL assessment with 10 SQL queries and one email to write, due in 3 days before the final interview. The SQL questions involved select, update, inner join, and left join, which were easy because of my school classes. You can use any resources, but I wanted to ace it anyway. Finally, I had a 1-hour in-person interview with the Director of Support Services. It began with introductions, then he asked what I knew about the role and its challenges. I covered some of his points, but he wasn't looking for perfection. I thought there would be technical questions, but there weren't. He asked more behavioral questions like 'tell me about a time you failed,' 'tell me about dealing with a difficult customer,' 'your thoughts on learning new tech,' and 'what can you improve from past experiences.' He said I seemed like a good fit and that an offer would be sent soon.
- Can you describe the most difficult project you've worked on?
- Tell me about a time you experienced failure.
- Describe a situation where you had to handle a difficult customer.
Software Analyst
It was a standard interview. They greeted me and met me in their conference room. They value employee referrals quite a bit. After I completed a phone screening, I had an interview about a week later.
- Estimate the volume of the room in gallons of water.
- Estimate the volume of the room in liters of water.
Technical Support Analyst
I had a phone call first, then 2 interviews that were each an hour long. One was with my direct manager and the other with the department manager. I also had a SQL assessment.
- How do you manage when you have many tasks coming at you all at once?
