It was a 3 step interview. The first 2 were straightforward, culture check / vibe to see if you would be someone they wanted to work with. They asked professional experience questions about how things went at the jobs you were at. Then they talk about money. The offer was 20k less than what they listed on the JD and asked me if I would like to continue. This was the first red flag. The last interview was as bad as the low ball. They proceeded to pick my resume apart instead of asking me about how I prospected or what it was like selling those products into the markets I worked. Then I asked why they hadn't promoted 2 SDRs who had been there for over 1.5 years and he said : they haven't provided enough ROI for the business to warrant their promotion. Second red flag - They passed on me, and honestly, I'm glad they did. They're still looking to fill the role. There is plenty of BDR talent walking around looking for a good place to work.

Save yourself time and effort by heeding prior reviews. The interview project is a waste of time and is a taste alignment filter disguised as an engineering challenge. Your engineering principles, a working project with good UX, or a "Simple" Design doc do not matter. Everything in the interview contradicts the challenge document. You're told to iterate, then rejected because the initial version did not meet their taste. That's iteration, right? You explain your reasoning, the reviewer doesn't push back, then you're quietly dinged. Questions often go unanswered, especially in PRs. The reviewers ask collaborative-sounding questions, but your answers are held against you. One reviewer was warm and helpful, but the rest of the process felt like theater. If you proceed, get explicit approval for every decision; "No objection" is not "approved." Treat every question as a potential trap, not a discussion.

The interview process at Teleport was one of the best I’ve experienced. Ashley, the recruiter, was incredible from the start. Our initial chat was warm and friendly—her bubbly personality and passion for Teleport made it clear that this was a fantastic place to work. She kept me updated throughout each stage, always making sure I knew what was coming next and offering support along the way. After the first interview with the hiring manager, I met with a senior Solutions Engineer and an Account Executive, all of whom were knowledgeable and welcoming. One of the key highlights was presenting a Kubernetes demo, which was a great way to showcase my skills and how I would contribute to the team. The final interview with the CRO was also a pleasure. Overall, the process was enjoyable and seamless, thanks in large part to Ashley’s communication and enthusiasm. It was clear that Teleport values both professionalism and a positive, supportive culture.

The interview process started off great, really fast. A recruiter messaged me on LinkedIn and we chatted. After that, I had six 1-on-1 interviews with people from different teams like Channel, SVP Sales, Sales, Business Development, and Engineering. They liked my performance, so I was asked to create a business plan, like a 30/60/90 day plan. I put a lot of effort into making the slides and my plan. But during the presentation, they barely participated or asked questions, which felt weird and like they weren't interested. After it was over, I heard nothing back, no good or bad news. I tried reaching out to everyone, but they just ghosted me. It was a really bad and unprofessional way to end what had been a good experience up to that point.
