Interviews are always with the PI, and both sides try to figure out if they're a good fit. You gotta bring your CV and have related knowledge or experience in the lab's research area. The lab's supposed to provide what you need interest-wise, tools, guidance, and benefits. If you both agree you're a good match, they usually offer you the job.

First, there was a brief interview with the Principal Investigator (PI) and some PhD candidates. Then, a short lab animal handling test. After that, I had to write a research proposal. Finally, I interviewed with the Admissions Committee, which included two professors in my research field. They typically focused on my research proposal.

For 2 jobs at the Shmunis school of biomedicine, 7 candidates including myself were interviewed over 2 days. Day 1 consisted of a job talk for the whole life sciences faculty, followed by a chalk talk just for the school faculty. The rest of the time was spent in one-on-one meetings with faculty. The interviews started around 10 am and wrapped up around 5 pm, with lunch. The vibe was super friendly and casual, and even though I didn't get an offer, I was happy with how it went.

There were two main parts to the interview process. First, I talked with the Director of the Strategic Communication Department, and then I had a second interview with the VP of Resource Development. The first chat was the really important one. The second interview seemed more like a final check.
