First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Teknova.
Customer Relations Associate
I applied and was contacted via email by my recruiter Joanne who kept in communication with me the entire process. I was invited for an over the phone interview where we discussed some of my background, role responsibilities, and expectations. The second part of the interview was an in person interview. This part I had with three different individuals within the department I was applying for, (Be prepared dive into your background and some of your accomplishments). After this I was sent an offer letter where I chose to accept. After accepting the position you then are given a date for an orientation where you actually get to start with other people recently hired in the organization and learn important policy and culture information, faces of the organization, the great benefits they have to offer, and of course an introduction your new place of work!
- What is something about you that isn't on your resume but I should know?
Lab Technician
Horrible process with an unprofessional young lady, did not feel welcomed by staff. Owner was very rude to his employees, I heard him grunt at an employ who said hi to him, very discouraging.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
QC Chemist
So the interview process involved two tests. The first was a 15-minute logic test with some easy matching, addition, and subtraction questions that just required attention to detail. The second was a 20-minute test covering dilutions and a question about PCR, which was pretty basic. After the tests, I had a meeting with the head of HR to discuss the company. Then, I met with the lab manager and the VP of sales. They both asked the same questions, and I got a tour of the facility. During these meetings, they all stressed Teknova's industry-leading fast turnaround times and the pressure to meet or exceed performance goals.
- Can you share an example of an improvement you've made in your current role?
Lab Technician
First, I had to take a 20-minute test with math, reading, matching, and writing questions. Then, I interviewed with three people: HR, the director of production, and the VP of sales. After the interview with the second person, I was given a tour of the facility. The environment seemed great and everyone was really friendly. The whole process was pretty easy and went smoothly. The people there spoke highly of the work environment and mentioned the possibility of career growth at Teknova.
- How do you handle stressful situations?
- What makes you want to work at this company?
- Describe a time you had to be creative without assistance.
