The interview process was excellent. They started with a brief phone interview that gave me a taste of the work culture and what my job would be. Next were two rounds of interviews for a legal position - the person who would be my supervisor and her boss, then the General Counsel and another senior attorney. The really cool thing is they asked if there was anyone else I wanted to speak with. As a potential in-house attorney, I wanted to make sure I would have good rapport with my main internal clients, so I asked for that. I was able to meet with two people who I would work with closely, and it was really nice to have that in advance and not find out later that I loved my job, but didn't gel with my clients.

I had discussions with several staff members. We talked about the company culture and the specifics of the job. They asked about my technical skills, the programming languages I know, and how I could contribute to the business. We also discussed my motivation for moving from a corporate role to the nonprofit sector.

The interview process at TechSoup felt really off. I went from feeling great to like something was deeply wrong with the culture. The employees seemed beaten down, stuck in a bad situation, and the leaders acted like tyrants when stressed. I've known TechSoup for years and used their products, but they've changed. I interviewed for a director role with eight people, one-on-one. It was disorganized, and the 'leaders' hadn't read my resume. Three senior people made insulting remarks. TechSoup needs to improve how they treat candidates and customers; they even mocked nonprofits. During the final interview, a tour showed pale, lifeless employees in the break room. It felt sad and toxic. Their business model is struggling due to competition, and they've lost their edge with corporate rebates. I saw other negative reviews but ignored them. Don't make the same mistake; you deserve a better employer and workplace.

First there was an email exchange where we talked about salary to make sure it fit my expectations, since they don't put salary ranges on their job posts. Then I had a phone interview with HR. When I got there for the first in-person interview, the head of the team gave me a schedule of who I'd be meeting with that day. I ended up talking to 8 different people in small groups of 2-3, and then had another phone interview later. They also gave me a written test to do there and some homework writing assignment to do at home and send back in a couple days. After that, there were a few phone calls to clear up questions and talk about an offer.
