Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Teamwork.
Software Engineer
Had a quick call with the recruiter, then met the hiring manager. After that, there was a take home technical test, and then a technical interview before they made an offer. The technical questions weren't too difficult, mostly checking my knowledge, experience, and skills in the area.
- Can you tell me about the most difficult professional challenge you've faced and how you navigated it?
Software Developer
The initial interview was a video call with a friendly HR rep who made me feel at ease. We discussed my background and achievements. Then, I was given two hours to complete five coding problems, which felt like ample time. After submitting the code, the interviewer informally asked for my thoughts on the problems and the interview process. About two weeks later, I was invited for an in-person interview at the Teamwork office in Cork. I got a quick tour of the impressive office space, which clearly showed a lot of thought for employee well-being. I then spoke with an experienced developer about technologies I knew, and my past projects (work, personal, or open-source). They asked me to describe how I'd build some front-end components and suggest improvements. Shortly after, I got a call with an offer, which I accepted. Communication via email was frequent, so I never felt out of the loop. Everyone was great to deal with and very welcoming. Even without an offer, it was a valuable learning experience. I highly recommend applying!
- What's your strategy for migrating old code to a newer programming language?
Software Engineer
This was the worst interview experience ever, taking about 2 months from beginning to end. It took like 2 weeks to hear back after stages with no updates. When I asked for updates, they gave me dumb excuses. After I passed the phone and coding tests, I went for a face-to-face. The office was cool, but that's it. I was interviewed by a developer and this other person who seemed like a new grad. The developer was super unprofessional, laughing sarcastically at my answers. They even mentioned firings for bullying. Plus, their laptop and phone kept going off during the interview. Turns out the 'other' person was an intern, which is crazy for a senior role interview. Total mess, avoid this place.
- What is your current salary and your salary expectations?
- Can you explain your views on teamwork?
- What prompts your decision to leave your present employer?
