First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Teachers of Tomorrow.
Substitute Teacher
It wasn't anything hard or easy about it. They just wanted to know why you chose this field and what inspires you to become a teacher. They also ask have you selected a school that you would like to teach at, what age groups do you want to teach (that is also based on your degree (s)).
- Tell me about why you chose this field.
- What is it that inspires you to become a teacher?
- Do you have a particular school in mind where you would like to teach?
Management
This interview process was the fastest I've ever experienced! I got an assessment and an interview request from the hiring manager within 3 days of applying. After my first interview, my second one was scheduled for 4 days later. I got a job offer the same day as my second interview. Since I was working, my start date was about 3 weeks after the offer, but they let me meet the team before then. I don't think I'll ever see a process like this again; everyone was really nice and informative. While I know not all jobs are like this, Teachers of Tomorrow's recruiting process is a hidden gem right now.
- Can you tell me about your management style and how you handle competing priorities from C-Level Leadership?
Program Advisor
The interview process was pretty standard, covering my background and my interest in the company. What I really disliked about Texas Teachers was their lack of organization and the recruiters they hired. After an interview, my recruiter called the next day saying they wanted to offer me a job! I filled out a bunch of background information. Then, suddenly, before I could even submit my background check, they said they were moving forward with another candidate, even though my recruiter had called less than 12 hours prior offering me the position. This suggests Texas Teachers is either disorganized and makes offers prematurely, or their recruiter is very misleading. Either way, this points to issues with their hiring process or their recruiters, neither of which I'm looking for in my next employer.
- Why do you want to work for this company?
Program Advisor
A recruiter reached out about a Program Advisor role at Texas Teachers of Tomorrow. I said I was interested, and the recruiter said someone from Texas Teachers would call me. We scheduled a phone interview, and then they called. The interviewer sounded pretty uninterested, which was kind of unexpected since my recruiter told me to be enthusiastic. The questions were really basic, asking about my previous jobs, any employment gaps, my strengths, and weaknesses.
- Tell me about your previous work experience and why you think you'd be a good fit for this position.
- Could you explain any gaps in your employment history?
- What is one of your strengths?
