So after I applied, an intern from HR emailed me to schedule a phone screen. I picked a time on Calendly, and she called me then. We talked about my background, and she asked me some questions and typed up my answers. She also asked about my salary needs, and I told her and asked if it was in their budget, but she wasn't sure. The next day, the hiring manager emailed to set up a phone interview. We picked a time a few days out, and she called then. She mentioned she works remotely, which is why the interview was by phone. We discussed my experience and she asked more questions. I asked about salary, and she said HR handles the budget and thought it might be less than I wanted. She said if I moved on, it would be an on-site interview, otherwise I'd be notified by email. About two weeks later, I got an email saying they weren't moving forward with my application.

After submitting my application and resume via email, I was invited for an interview. I met with about 2-3 people, including the editor-in-chief, the editorial manager, and possibly one of the editorial directors. It's unclear if this was one long interview session or if they brought me back a second time, but I spoke with each of them individually. They contacted me a week or two later to let me know they were hiring me. Overall, it was a positive experience and the questions weren't challenging.

About 2 weeks after applying online, I got a phone interview that went well. About two weeks later, I was invited for an in person interview. I was asked to bring a portfolio and complete a 53-page proofreading test. I almost canceled because it seemed like a tedious job, but I did it anyway and went to the interview. I was supposed to meet three people, but the last one had an emergency, so it felt rushed. I didn't send a thank you note because I decided I didn't want the job. They never contacted me again and still have my portfolio, but I have another one anyway.
