First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TCU.
Marketing Communications Coordinator
First up was a phone screen with my supervisor (the hiring manager) to see if I had the basic experience and if I was interested in the job. Then, I had a virtual panel interview with the Dean of the College I worked for and the supervisor. After that, another virtual panel interview with some folks from the TCU Marketing and Communications team. The final round was in-person on campus, meeting with my supervisor, the Marketing AVC, and the VC of Marketing and Communications. That was followed by a skills assessment done on-site.
- Can you describe your experience collaborating with various departments across the university?
Assistant Professor
The interview process was great, starting with a Zoom call, and then an on-campus visit. Everything was well organized and ran smoothly. The search committee members were very professional, and I really enjoyed both the initial Zoom interview and the on-campus visit.
- What motivated your application for this role?
Assistant Professor
It was a friendly, laid back interview process. They were definitely looking for someone who is a team player, energetic, and motivated. They want candidates to be themselves and be honest and open. The faculty and staff are very personable and lovely.
- Be prepared to ask plenty of questions.
- Find out if it’s the right fit for you.
- Ask to visit a classroom.
Instructor
It was a pretty standard interview. I met with a few different people who wanted to see me give a teaching demo. The students were really quiet during the demo because all their teachers were in the room. It's tough to be engaging when it's obvious no one is comfortable speaking up.
- Given that you have a PhD, can you explain why you're applying for an instructor position?
