First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TCS e-Serve International.
Software Engineer
The main technical interview will check your basic knowledge and coding skills. You should prepare for questions about: the programming languages you know (like Java, C/C++, Python), OOP ideas, data structures and algorithms (arrays, sorting, basic DSA), databases (SQL, joins, normalization), and general CS topics like operating systems and networking. They'll also ask about your past projects and resume, expecting you to explain their architecture, any difficulties you faced, and the technologies used. This part can involve coding problems, whiteboard exercises, and solving practical, real-world scenarios.
- Could you start by telling me about yourself and a project you've worked on?
- What distinguishes SQL from NoSQL databases?
- Can you explain key OOP principles such as inheritance and polymorphism?
Management Trainee
Started with application screening, then a recruiter call, followed by technical or role based interviews, a behavioral assessment, a team fit discussion, and a final leadership review. Then there were reference checks, offer negotiation and onboarding initiation.
- Tell me about yourself and answer some other basic questions.
Application Administrator
The interview panel had 4 members and it was a 1-hour interview. This was the 2nd round of interviews. I have 12+ years of overall experience and 5+ years of relevant experience. I answered most of the questions, missing about 3 because they were not related to the job description. The worst part was that one panel member was an ex-employee of my previous company, and he was junior to me and used to report to me. His designation at TCS is TL, and he was interviewing a PM (which is ridiculous, and he was the main interviewer). The other two members were PM and SDM. I don't remember the fourth person. You can guess the outcome.
- Can you explain scrum and kanban?
- What do you know about issue collectors?
- How would you integrate Confluence and Jira?
Technical Support Engineer
The interview process involved understanding linked lists, which have two parts: information and a link. In a singly connected list, a special pointer called 'start' points to the first element. Each node's link points to the next node, and the last node's link is null. The start pointer makes traversing the list easy. We also covered the four basic principles of OOPS: Abstraction, where implementation details are hidden and only functionality is shown to the user. An example given was sending an SMS, where you don't need to know the internal message delivery process.
- Could you introduce yourself and explain your motivation for pursuing a career in IT?
