First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Taylor Morrison.
Listing Coordinator
The interview process was quick and efficient. Everyone was very polite and there were no red flags. They were transparent about pay and benefits, which is appreciated given how many job postings are vague these days.
- Can you describe a typical day in your previous job?
Customer Service Representative
The people I met were really nice and attentive, they explained everything I needed to know. They value open communication, so it's best to be honest and open. Everyone I interacted with during the process was great and explained things in detail.
- Tell me about your past experience.
Sales
The interviewer was late, rude, and unprofessional. They told me I was overqualified, which was a bad impression for the company. It seems like they only want followers. I wouldn't work here. It wasn't a great experience.
- Can you tell me about your relationships with past coworkers?
Human Resources Business Partner
A third-party recruiter initially screened me over the phone. Then, Taylor Morrison invited me for a phone interview with the hiring manager, the VP of HR, which went really well. Next, I had interviews with Division and Region leaders in Folsom; these felt more like getting-to-know-you chats than formal interviews. After that, I spoke with the HR Business Partner for the central region via phone, which was a more formal but positive conversation due to a LinkedIn connection. I also interviewed with the HR Business Partner in the east, who spoke to me like a colleague, as if I already had the job. Both colleagues spoke highly of the company and the VP. Subsequently, I was invited for in-person interviews at their headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ, which I was excited about. I met with potential colleagues, direct reports, and leaders I would support. I also had dinner with the VP of HR. Interactions were very positive, and it seemed like everyone expected me to join the team. The VP mentioned two other candidates were still in the process and she hadn't decided if they'd visit Scottsdale. She stressed the importance of finding the right person to build relationships, and I felt confident I'd connected well. This was just before the July 4th weekend. The VP said she'd be traveling the next week and I should hear back around July 11th. I sent thank you emails to everyone I met in Scottsdale and received positive responses. During the week of July 11th, the recruiter told me they were trying to get another candidate to interview, but that person was ill and needed an extra week. I was still optimistic about hearing good news the week of July 18th. However, the following Monday, the recruiter informed me I didn't get the job, with the feedback being that there was a stronger candidate. I emailed the VP and the HR Business Partners to thank them and wish them well, also requesting feedback. One HR Business Partner responded, saying he saw no missteps and thanked me. Despite not getting an offer and being disappointed, I was very pleased with the people I met and the company. I learned many on the HR team were relatively new and spoke highly of the company culture and leadership. I even reached out to the VP to express interest in future opportunities.
- Can you describe your approach to establishing relationships with business leaders?
