The interview process went swimmingly. I met with the direct hiring manager first, who asked some reasonable, pertinent questions. After that, I interviewed with his boss, then that boss's boss, and finally HR. It was a bit weird, right? I ended up having 5 interviews for this one role at the same company, including the initial recruiter chat. So, in total: Recruiter, Hiring Manager, US CISO, Global CISO, and then HR. I'm still not sure why HR was last, even the interviewer couldn't give a good reason. I got an offer but declined for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the whole process took almost a month, which felt like a long time for 5 interviews, especially since I was unemployed for part of it. I told them, but the timeline didn't change. Secondly, there was misleading information about the salary. I was initially told 90k, but when negotiating with HR, they said they could only offer 81k with a potential 10% bonus. That means I'd get a smaller base salary and the rest only if they decided I was worthy and the company was doing well. That's not acceptable to me. I never got a formal on-paper offer, though HR assured me it was being processed. I found another job that only required 2 interviews and gave me an offer in less than a week. It really doesn't need to take that long, regardless of company size, which was the excuse they gave me.
