First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Targobank.
Branch Manager
Got approached by headhunters, as usual for Targo Bank. Even multiple ones for the same job. Then a call with an HR person. Got invited for an in-person interview with an HR person and the boss. You can already feel the high sales pressure during the conversation. There are little role-plays. A rather authoritarian leadership style is expected. You get the impression they already did some "spotlighting" beforehand (Xing, mutual professional acquaintances).
- What are your target achievements?
- How do you handle employees who underperform?
- What do you do when targets are set, but there's a staff shortage?
Compliance
I had an interview with the department head, and later the division manager joined. We started with a quick overview of the interview, then introduced ourselves and asked questions. It was pretty relaxed overall, though sometimes a bit awkward. The job ad sounded interesting, but the interviewer struggled to present the company in a positive and convincing way. This, along with a string of typical, uninspired questions, really detracted from the interview.
- Why are you interested in Targobank?
- What attracts you to this specific department?
- Can you describe your ideal typical workday?
Kundenberater
The atmosphere during the entire interview was very pleasant and trusting. The clear focus was on my previous experiences and how I handle certain customer situations as described in the questions. Of course, for a general customer advisor position, this interview primarily focused on previous experience/events/knowledge in credit business, as this is by far the most important area of business for TARGOBANK.
- What product focuses are there in your current advisory role?
- Which products do you particularly enjoy selling?
- Which products do you not enjoy selling at all?
HR Intern
The recruiter introduced herself, then I presented my background and motivation. She then asked follow-up questions about my suitability, both professionally and personally. This was truly my best interview experience ever. The recruiter was very relaxed and friendly, which made me feel very comfortable. She communicated perfectly with young talent, at eye level and in a casual atmosphere. Her friendly personality, which I'd gladly keep in my network, extended beyond the interview throughout the entire internship and beyond.
- Regarding teamwork with extroverted individuals, how do you see yourself fitting in?
