First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tao Group.
Data Scientist
The interview had two technical rounds. They were focused on coding and technical questions. The questions covered machine learning, generative AI, NLP, deep learning, and Pandas. They wanted to see if I understood the theory and could implement it.
- Can you explain the chunking strategy?
- What about feature engineering?
- And model monitoring?
People Coordinator
The interviewer was really waspy and curt. She was even late! Her whole vibe was unwelcoming, and even though she looked polished, she sounded like a robot. She seemed to be reading from a script and had canned responses. When I talked about my experience, she seemed uninterested, snapping and interrupting me like she wanted me to hurry up. She had trouble asking direct questions, using rhetorical ones instead, but it felt like she was trying to ask loaded or run-on questions that needed a detailed explanation. It was disappointing because she's a manager at Tao Group, and her attitude killed my interest. A manager shouldn't do preliminary interviews; maybe someone on her team could. The whole interview felt rushed, curt, and disrespectful.
- Regarding posting requisitions for open positions, how often did you do that? Also, what do you understand about recruitment, onboarding, and orientation training?
- Do you have any experience with public speaking?
- Are you bilingual or do you speak any other languages?
Human Resources Coordinator
I was interviewing for a position based out of Hollywood, CA. My first interview was with a recruiter from HQ in Las Vegas, which went really well. Next, I had an in-person interview at The Dream Hotel with the Hiring Manager. It was a really hot day and I waited in the bar for 30 minutes past our scheduled time. We ended up sitting at a cocktail table in the bar, which was a bit strange. He asked me a few questions and then asked if I had any questions for him. He seemed distracted and kept checking his watch. The interview wrapped up quickly, and he said he'd follow up on Monday. I was still really keen on the job because it's TAO! I also had two other promising interviews. I sent a thank you note and followed up a week later with no response. I tried one last time after getting another offer, but still no response. Not getting a follow-up on the outcome felt like a negative sign about the company.
- Do you have experience with employee relations?

I applied on 10/05/2024. I got a text from a bot asking about my experience and availability. I was set for an interview on 10/10/2024 at 5:15 PM. I got there early around 4:30 and waited to go in around 5. When I got there, the manager said the restaurant was closed for an event and no one could interview me. He gave me a card and told me to email reservations to set up a time with a hiring manager. He said I should've gotten a cancellation message. Apparently, they texted me at 4:45 PM cancelling the interview. It was really upsetting and unprofessional to cancel 30 minutes before when they had a week to let me know.
- Did you receive the email about the interview cancellation?
