First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tanger.
Marketing Manager
They listed the role as a senior marketing manager but really it was a retail manager role. They saw my resume with an MBA in marketing and 10+ years of marketing analysis and strategy roles, and my cover letter about creating powerful marketing strategies and implementing new ideas but the role didn't even have anything to do with that. They called me for an interview anyway to tell me they just follow corporates marketing choices and this role just supervises retail managers.

GIS Analyst
I had an initial screening with HR, which was really nice, and we talked about the job. Then, I had a second interview with the manager, and that also went well. But after that, I was told for weeks that I was a good fit and someone would call about the next steps, but nobody ever did. I was totally ghosted without any explanation.

Marketing Director
So, the title Marketing Director was actually a bit of a bait-and-switch. Turns out, it's more of a business development officer role, focused on cold sales and building relationships, not really marketing strategy or analytics. They interviewed me even though I have no sales experience, just 15 years in art direction and marketing leadership with an MBA in marketing analytics. The process involved: first, a Teams call with national HR for a quick screen; second, an in-person meeting with the hiring manager; and third, a panel interview with executives, done via Teams.
- Can you share an instance where you successfully built a relationship with a prospective client?
Customer Service Representative
First, I had to turn in a paper application. Then, about two weeks later, I got an email to set up an in-person interview. The interview itself felt relaxed and comfortable, but still professional. When I got there, I met the receptionist and waited in a small conference room for about 10 minutes. Then the manager came in, introduced themselves, and started by asking about me, then went over the job description, and finally asked questions about me, the job, and what I could bring to the role.
- What experience do you have in customer service and with handling a cash drawer?
- How effectively do you handle upset customers?
- Can you describe your approach to dealing with an angry customer?
