Program Specialist
I was referred by a friend and applied for the Program Specialist role. A few days later, I got a call for a phone interview. After passing that, my info was sent to the hiring manager. On the same Wednesday, I was called in for a two-week project while the recruiter reviewed my resume. The interview for the project was the following Monday. I was hired as a contractor for the project and started the next Monday. During the project, a full-time Program Analyst position was created for me based on my skills. I've been with the company for almost 5 months.
- What prompted your departure from your previous role?
Program Specialist
The process was really fast. I had a phone interview and then an in-person interview all in the same week. After I didn't get the first job, the recruiter told me about an even better role that was available.
- Can you tell me about a situation in your previous job that you wish you had handled differently, and explain your reasoning?
Director of Business Development
I was contacted by a recruiter on Tuesday of last week for an hour phone interview. That interview went well. He set up what was to have been a half hour phone interview with the hiring manager for the next day, Wednesday. The second interview went so well she kept me on the phone for 90 minutes. She asked me to come in for a 3rd interview at their office the next day, on Thursday. There I met with three people in person and three by phone conference. I was there for 2 hours and 15 minutes. The hiring manager set up a 4th interview for last Friday with another manager, which occurred by phone for over a half hour. The hiring manager stated last Thursday she was going on vacation for four days and would return tomorrow, Tuesday, at which time she wanted me to continue the interview process by meeting with three others by phone. However, today - Monday - I received an inexplicable boilerplate email from the recruiter – and not the hiring manager. It simply states: "I am writing to inform you that we have selected a candidate who we believe most closely matches the job requirements and culture fit for the organization." I was astounded. What happened to the continuing interviews the hiring manager assured me would occur this week?
- The hiring manager mentioned that she had initially scheduled a half-hour phone call, but you ended up speaking for over 90 minutes. Would you agree that it went well?
